COMPANY’S PROFILE

PJ and MunoMXP Adventure aims to provide the best guided tours around Mongolia, offering adventurous, luxurious interesting, varied as well as family-oriented itineraries to suit all. This is a young start-up yet it is dynamic and resourceful. It is founded by two young men who hail from diverse cultural backgrounds and are each professionals in their selected fields.

The founders, Muno and PJ, met in the summer of 1999 during an expedition organized by Raleigh International, a UK-based charitable organization. The three-month expedition allowed their friendship to grow and a strong trust was fostered between them. A year later, they came together again to co-organize another expedition, Xanadu 2000, which was funded by the Imperial College of London.

Xanadu 2000 took place in July 2000, where they rode horses for more than half a month around mid-western and northern Mongolia. They conducted research on the potability of water resources that were collected along the way. The entire expedition lasted one and a half months, bringing them to five different provinces in Mongolia. It was during this expedition that the idea of introducing tourism to Mongolia was first mooted. However, in the years that followed, both founders became busy with their own studies and career. It was only in early 2004 that the same idea was revisited.

Their passion for travelling and interest in meeting travellers alike led them to start MXP Adventure. Leveraging on their extensive travelling experiences they gained from these expeditions, they have identified excellent areas around Mongolia that are less explored than others, which is reflected in their itineraries.

The tour itineraries offered by MXP Adventure have been through, meticulous and detailed planning and revising so that only the best is offered.

THE FOUNDERS

MunoMuno spent most of his childhood and youth mastering horse-riding skills in the steppes of Mongolia. He led a nomadic lifestyle before enrolling in elementary school at the age of six.
After completing his primary and secondary education in the Mongolian government school, he switched to complete his high school education in a Turkish school. It was then that he was taught English and Turkish. He is now fluent in English and Turkish and has some knowledge of the Russian language.
In 1998, he took part in the Mongolian National Computing competition and came in third. He was then offered a scholarship to study software engineering and programming at the National University of Mongolia in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia. Moving to Ulaanbaatar was a difficult adjustment for Muno as he began his stressful urban living in the absence of his parents. Nevertheless he still enjoys riding in the vast(ness of the) Mongolian steppes and drinking horse milk under the great Mongolian blue skies.
He is married and has a beautiful daughter by the name of Misheel.

PJ

Contrary to the environment Muno grew up in, PJ was born in Singapore and spent all his childhood and teenage years in an urban environment.
During his primary and secondary school days, PJ was (just) an average student with no excellent academic record to brag about. However, he excelled academically while reading his Mechanical Engineering diploma at Ngee Ann Polytechnic. He graduated with the Lee Kuan Yew Gold Medal for being the top graduate in Mathematics and Science from a polytechnic, as well as the Ngee Ann Kongsi Gold Medal for being the most outstanding graduate in the year 1995. These awards opened opportunities for PJ to win an overseas scholarship to pursue his first degree at Imperial College of London. He graduated with an honours degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Besides his academic track record, PJ demonstrated excellent leadership qualities and competence in his military training during his two and a half years of mandatory National Service with the Singapore Armed Forces. He completed his Officer Cadet training as a Sword-of-Merit winner and continued to receive several awards for his outstanding military performance. He is now a company commander with more than 70 officers, sergeants and soldiers under his charge. In 2006, he was awarded the Guards Formation NS Man of the Year Award – Letter of Commendation for his excellent military performance.

PJ is a travel bug and has travelled to over thirty-eight countries spanning five continents. He enjoys horse riding in Mongolia, trekking in the Patagonia Andes, snowboarding in the Alps, cycling in Iceland and much more. PJ finds Mongolia the most attractive country he has visited and since his first visit to Mongolia in 1998, his passion for Mongolia and all things Mongolian has meant that he has made annual ‘pilgrimages’ there.
